Dual Exhaust is done.

Today, being a vacation day for me worked out to my benefit. I had my new dual exhaust installed. It was a cutout from a Brand New 2010 Dodge Ram, someone ripped off for a bigger setup. So it took some minor modifications but it installed easily after that, and fits just perfectly.

Sound? What sound, its quieter than the original single exhaust.

*edit- Being Saturday, I transferred my license plate over, and now she's rightly named.

Air Raid Cold Air Intake

Finally went and purchased and installed my new Cold Air Intake. Only took me about forty minutes to remove the old and install. It's nice when Bolt-on mods are quite simple to install and looks pretty good when its all done.

At the same time that I was picking up the CAI, I was price quoted a Magnaflow dual exhaust. Seems that the ballpark of $6-700 is what I'm going to end up paying. I'm still going to keep my eyes open for a deal.

Just a new photo from last week's wash.

Nothing new and exciting in the world up modding, but I've taken a new picture.

I'm still debating on when I should pick up the CAI and True Duals though.. The sooner the better, however future horizons dictate its better to hold off currently.

Tonneau Cover.

Well, I was able to FINALLY pick up my bakflip tonneau cover today. It took almost 3 weeks after I ordered it due to the fact that the two boxes were shipped separately. Installation took no longer than 30 minutes, including pre-fitting everything to be 100% sure it is the way it should be. Only tools needed was a 9/16 wrench and a knife to cut the drain tubing, and the tapes holding everything together.

Oops, I forgot to take a picture of it open. I'll get to that when I try to.

Taillights and Nighshade.

Well, I figured after getting my grille finished I may as well work on the rear of the truck, now after I prepped the lights, and sprayed the nightshade, I noticed I had a tail light out when I went back to test the lighting, of course, when I got new bulbs, one was defective. So its a good thing I bought a pair.

New Black Grille.

After fighting against an army of mosquitoes last night with the help of a trusty bug zapper, I worked to tear off, paint, and replace my grille. I finished it this afternoon after having to run back into town to grab another can of paint. (Note to Self: Always get more than what you need.)

I think it looks reasonable for the look I'm working towards. Yes, the black is flatter than the rest of the truck, but I want it to stand out that way.

Tinting Completed.

A little lighter than I had hoped, but it still looks good. At least with only 35% I won't be hassled by the police saying that it's too dark and they want it removed.

Thanks again to Garageworks for the excellent service you provided.

Front Windows Tint appointement booked.

Thursday morning I'll be heading to Garageworks to tint my two front windows with 35%, I figured that I'll keep it the same as what my rear windows are. I've been quoted a great deal for the job, and they take their time and care and remove the windows from the doors in order to do the job properly.

I'll update on the tint with pictures after they're done. I'll hopefully get a decal from them for an addition later as well.

Superchips Flashpaq 3865 arrived today.

I ordered my Superchips programmer on this past Saturday, today I had finally received a phone call stating that it had arrived and was able to pick it up. I've registered it online, updated the files, but have yet to go outside and plug it into the truck. I will soon, and use the data log information to get some readings on what I've got so far. Then I will have a comparison to what I'll gain after the programming, the Cold Air Intake and Exhaust which should hopefully be installed sometime in the nearer short future.

On a side note, I've already noticed fuel gains from the throttle body I had installed last week. So I'll go at least another week before I program any new settings.

Throttle Body installed.

I picked up my new Fastman throttle body Thursday evening, but had no time to install it until today. I started by taking off the resonator, and old throttle body.

Here is a side by side comparison of the two Bodies, both the top and bottom.
The new one is of course the one with the rubber seated on it.

As you can see the old had quite a bit of residue on the back of the valve.

When replacing the new throttle body, and keying the ignition for ten seconds to check if everything was set and adjusted right, I realized that I had left my Air Temperature Indicator connector unplugged which caused a P0113 Trouble Code. Once I replaced the connector back onto the resonator, and put everything back together tightly, the check engine light stayed on. No Codes, just on. I drove it for awhile, then proceeded to fuel up, I keyed the ignition, and before starting, I reset the average fuel economy calculator in the overhead console to keep tabs on what the new body will run at. After starting the truck this time, the Check Engine Light had no longer lit up. Everything is as expected now. Much quicker throttle response as well.

What I've learned:
1. Be sure to connect all electrical components back to where they belong before starting the engine.
2. Parts Source is no longer allowed to loan their ODBII scanners to customers as companies such as Canadian tire or other similar outlets complained that they are getting ripped off due to it being a "PAY to Read" service.
3. Due to the above statement(2), I think that the customer service representative I was dealing with was just full of shit, and too lazy to loan the unit for me. He was claiming that "I'm not allowed to read my own vehicle either, and I work here".

Waiting.

The hardest part about working to upgrade a vehicle is waiting for the parts to come in. The second hardest, is having the time to install those said parts. My Fastman throttle body has been ordered, was shipped out, and is currently in transit. The last update attached to my tracking number said that it had left the United States. This means that it must be in custom limbo. Two days already, going on three once Monday hits.

New updates.

I know that I'm horrible at keeping my updates fluid, and constant. Work itself mainly keeps me away from doing mods and working on the truck. I'll briefly post a bit of new information for this past week and start discussing my future plans performance wise.

I finally sold my old White 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 on June 29, 2010. A short ownership of 4.5 years, and only 70,000kms in that said time frame. The truck was barely broken in but I was due for an update, and I wanted something newer. Now having that gone, lifts such a weight off my shoulders and stress out of my life. I hope to see the truck in four or five years driving down the road in as good of condition as I sold it in, but with Canadian winter and the Alberta Salt, its tough to say how long things last.

Now, onto the new projected plans.
I'm planning on ordering my new 801 Cast Fastman Throttle body in two weeks, since, not only does it come out of the states, but ordering it late in the month on a credit card is good for delaying the pay due date by nearly a full month, at the same time I'll be ordering up a new K&N Cold Air intake with an Air box to replace the old stock. Finally, I'll hope to take the time nearing the end of July to get some dual exhaust put on. It will either be Flowmaster 40's for the quietness, 50's for the Airflow, or maybe even a Dynomax since they just came up with an internal variable baffling muffler. Looking for the best performance value without the excess noise, but of course, all of it will fit with the dual 4" flat black tips straight out the back.

I hope to make more updates soon. I'm looking at possibly working on painting my Dash Stereo Bezel black soon. I just really hate chrome, inside and out.

Third brake light cover done

So this morning, I finally finished off the can of black paint I've been using for this week's worth of projects. This time it was the third brake light. I'm considering nightshade would be a good effect under on the light itself, but I'm still unsure yet.

I suppose it's time to pick up a new can of black for the next set of projects, most likely starting with the rear brake light covers.

Blackout Gas Cover

This morning, I woke up around 8am and figured OK, which project should I take on today. It ended up being the Gas Cover.

Then took the truck down to wash up, and check if all the past weeks worth of work actually stayed put. It did.

"Ram 1500" Blackened

I worked today on removing, painting, then replacing the badges.

I'd say they turned out decently well.
Better than the usual plain debadging, its at least original.

Before

Getting the Easy things out of the way.

Its nice to be able to experiment with new ideas, and if you don't like them, either take a quick high pressure washer to them, or chuck them out. This time it was with the front Dodge Plate, I'm eliminating all chrome, so it was the next easiest project. I figured I'd see if I could make the RamHead ghost out similar to the hologram images if it worked out right. Partially yes, however, I think I shouldn't have put so many coats on the covering itself. The rest of the plate looks good though, for being damaged, rusted, and etc.

Not as many coats as the Ram Head Previously done, but still looks quite nice overall.

My next project will be debadging the Ram1500 off the sides. I'll be taking extra care to try and save the exact location, distances, and spacing of the lettering. Never know if I'll be returning them if they turn out as good as I can hope.

At the same time, I'll be taking a look at the Throttle body to see if it is an 801 or 847. Fastman Throttle bodies are a definite suggested mod to any Dodge. I would recommend purchasing a throttle body from Dan to anyone who owns a Dodge.

Tailgate - Debadged.

Wow, It's amazing how a little hard work pays off.  I took off the SLT, the Dealer lettering, and the Ram Head off the Tailgate, quickly cleaned it off with windex to eliminate the excess GooGone which you're never supposed to allow to dry onto paint anyways.  Now I look at it, and it's clean.

So, of course, I wasn't able to stop there.  I took the Ram Head emblem, sanded it down with 1000Grit Paper, and gave it two coats of Chrysler automotive 'Color Match' paint. It was Metallic. Ooops. Well, after letting the paint dry ( with the heat gun ) I put another coat on. It looks good enough to put back on the Tailgate now. Still need two or three clear coats though.

Conundrum. So its better to sleep on it then look at it again when it's daylight out.

Tim Hortons, I hate you.

Friday, I had went to purchase a coffee through drive thru.  I paid for my coffee, placed it in my cup holder, and received my change, and pulled away.  I retrieved my cup back from the holder to see that the lid was allowing the coffee to drip in a continuous motion.  The truck, being no more than a day old, already had its first spill.

Even worse, the cup rim was not even a winner.

Fuck You Timmy's

Possession

Today I picked up the new Ruiner.  After looking over the truck and going over the paperwork, I worked my way home, babying her as I casually drove finding and trying all the little options I could find while still keeping my eyes on the road.  Easier said than done of course.

I found that after buying a new truck, the most important thing to remember is to either
A. Have a radar detector immediately installed.
B. Drive slow and careful.
C. Hope to hell there's no cops out.

I regrettably chose C.  There was no way in hell that I can buy a new truck and not test it out.
Doing so, I've already had it up to 140, and found that it seems quite possible that if I were to do enough work to the engine, I could get the front wheels off the ground.  I'm nearly there as it is.

The power is there without being loud.

Drive Hemi.
